Should parents be blamed for children's truancy?
Parents who fail to ensure their children go to school could see their child benefits docked.
Under an idea being considered by the government, the fine for persistent truancy would be increased and if parents do not pay it could be taken from their benefit payments.
BBC Radio 5 live's Shelagh Fogarty spoke to Sue from London. She was given a parenting order and fine in 2007 after her daughter persistently played truant.
