NAHT: UK education 'not a failing system'

Teaching unions and government appear to be at loggerheads over reforms to exams and the curriculum.

At their conference in Birmingham, the National Association of Head teachers is expected to accuse ministers of bullying schools into becoming academies and pushing through changes without proper consultation.

The Department of Education says it is raising standards.

Bernadette Hunter, president of the NAHT, said UK schools "are amongst the best in the world".
