Michael Gove: 'School reforms are working'

More of England's secondary schools are meeting baseline government targets on GCSEs, according the latest league tables.

A total of 154 state-funded schools out of about 3,200 were classed as under-performing - 61 fewer than last year.

Speaking to the BBC, Education Secretary Michael Gove said that he was delighted that fewer children were now in under-performing or failing schools, and suggested the figures were "proof that our reforms are working".
