NUT on teacher strikes: 'Workload must come right down'
The workload placed on teachers must "come right down" as it is "impacting on their abilities to be effective", Jerry Glazier from the National Union of Teachers has warned.
"It is a very serious and escalating issue for the teaching profession", he added.
Mr Glazier's comments came as members of the NUT voted in favour of a strike that could close schools in England and Wales in the week beginning 23 June.
Delegates chanted "Gove must go" after they backed calls for a campaign that could see a summer term classroom walk-out.
