Poor white pupils 'need best teachers and long days'

White working class children leave school with worse qualifications than equally poor black and Asian pupils according to a group of MPs, who are calling for longer school days, to allow students to do their homework in school.

The report by a cross-party committee of MPs has suggested schools must offer incentives to attract high-quality teachers in the most deprived areas.

The Education Select Committee have drawn attention to poor exam results achieved by white working class pupils in comparison to their black and Asian counterparts.
