Nicky Morgan defends Academies plan
Every school in England rated inadequate by Ofsted, up to 1,000 over five years, will become an academy, under a new bill.
The Education and Adoption Bill will also scrap the requirement for academy sponsors to consult locally on whether they should take over schools.
Labour says the "divisive" bill misses the challenges faced by schools.
The Education Secretary Nicky Morgan told the BBC a failing school could become an academy in "a couple of months" but she would not answer a question on how many existing academies are deemed "unsatisfactory".
