Election 2015: Tory campaign 'relevant to local concerns'

A focus on local issues in marginal seats was the key to election victory, the chairman of the Welsh Conservatives has said.

Jonathan Evans, who stood down as MP for Cardiff North, told Sunday Supplement on BBC Radio Wales that the Tories kept the seat with an increased majority - and gained other seats - because of a sophisticated campaign.

He claimed Labour messages on issues such as the bedroom tax were too generic and irrelevant to the majority of voters in key battleground seats.
