Gerry Adams says unionist majority 'demolished'
Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams has said the Northern Ireland assembly election result is a "watershed" moment which ended Stormont's unionist majority.
The Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) won the election with 28 seats but for the first time in history, unionist parties do not hold an overall majority at Stormont.
Sinn Féin, which had 10 seats fewer than the DUP last year, are now just one behind them with 27 MLAs.
Mr Adams said the idea of "a perpetual unionist majority has been demolished".
