Ted Cruz: Donald Trump is a rat

The feud between Republican presidential candidates Ted Cruz and Donald Trump has escalated with the Texas senator accusing "sleazy Donald" of spreading rumours about his family.

Mr Cruz told reporters that Mr Trump was behind a story in the National Enquirer that alleged Mr Cruz was having extramarital affairs.

Mr Cruz called Mr Trump a rat.

"It is a tabloid smear and it has come from Donald Trump and his henchmen."
