US elections: Contested primary is 'healthy', Obama says

President Barack Obama has said in an interview that he hopes his Democratic Party will "pull things together" over the next couple of weeks.

His remarks come after Hillary Clinton became the party's presumptive nominee in the presidential race, having secured enough delegates in the primary elections.

Mr Sanders - who has not yet conceded defeat - is due to meet Mr Obama on Thursday.

Mr Obama told the NBC host, Jimmy Fallon, that a contested primary is "healthy".
