Election 2016: Iraq veteran is Illinois senator for Democrats

Iraq veteran Tammy Duckworth has become the Democrat senator of Illinois, paying a warm tribute to the crew who helped bring her to safety during the Iraq war.

A former army helicopter pilot, who lost both her legs in the conflict, Ms Duckworth currently serves as a Congresswoman in the US House of Representatives.
