George Michael greeted at court by fierce press scrum

Singer George Michael has pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of drugs and possessing cannabis.

The 47-year-old, whose real name is Georgios Panayiotou, entered his plea at Highbury Magistrates Court in north London.

Michael was arrested on 4 July in Hampstead, north London, after he crashed his car into a branch of photographic shop Snappy Snaps.

The Wham! star, from nearby Highgate, was on police bail following the crash.

Police and security had to hold back the fierce press scrum that greeted the singer as he arrived at court.
