Colin Firth and Bonham Carter at New York premiere

Colin Firth and Helena Bonham Carter took to the red carpet for the New York premiere of their film The King's Speech on Monday.

The film is about King George VI of England, played by Firth, overcoming a speech impediment with the help of the queen consort, who later became Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, played by Bonham Carter.

The film is leading the British Independent Film Awards with eight nominations.
