George Clooney awarded for humanitarian work

Actor George Clooney has been honoured by the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights at an awards dinner in New York.

Clooney's father Nick, mother Nina Warren, and girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis accompanied him to the dinner.

He told those present at the dinner that there was a "chance of finding a peace deal between North and South Sudan."

Kerry Kennedy, who is President of the RFK Center for Justice & Human Rights, said that Clooney had "taken the asset of recognition" and used it to focus on "people and places that really need the spotlight".
