Brits sweep the board at awards

Colin Firth and Carey Mulligan were among the stars at the Palm Springs International Film Festival in California.

Mulligan was presented her Breakthrough Performance award by fellow Briton Andrew Garfield, while Colin Firth received his best actor prize from Dame Helen Mirren.

Actress Natalie Portman presented Spanish actor Javier Bardem with the award for best international actor at saturday's event.
