A million books for free at World Book Night

A million best selling books are being given away free on March 5 as part of the first ever World Book Night.

Volunteers in the UK and in Ireland will hand out 50 copies of their favourite book, from a selection which features Alan Bennett, Margaret Atwood and David Nicholls.

David Nicholls, author of One Day, says it was a great honour that his book was featured in the list.

Author Tracy Chevalier says the event will celebrate the importance of books.
