English National Ballet's toe-tapping tribute to Gershwin
English National Ballet is recreating the razzmatazz of the 1930s in Strictly Gershwin.
A 50-piece jazz orchestra brings to life George Gershwin's famous tunes, Rhapsody in Blue, Summertime and The Man I Love. The band will be joined by Olivier Award-winning singer Maria Friedman.
Derek Deane's choreography conjures up the Silver Screen chemistry of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. The ballet company are joined in the round by tap dancers Douglas Mills and Paul Robinson who dance to classic Gershwin hits perfect for their style of tap, Fascinating Rhythm and I've Got Rhythm.
BBC News spoke to Derek Deane, Douglas Mills and Paul Robinson during rehearsals.
Produced by the BBC's Claudia Redmond and Emyr Cummings.
