Bill Nighy on being an MI5 officer in new spy thriller

Bill Nighy is leading a cast of British acting heavyweights including Rachel Weisz, Ralph Fiennes and Michael Gambon in a new spy drama directed by Sir David Hare.

Page Eight tells the story of an MI5 operative's attempts to investigate a threat to the stability of the country's security services.

Speaking to BBC Breakfast, Nighy, who plays MI5 officer Johnny Worricker, said it was the perfect role.

"I wear a dark blue overcoat, I smoke herbal cigarettes in the rain, I stand on Battersea Bridge in the dark and you have to worry about what I am thinking," he said.
