Justin Welby: There will be tough moments

The Right Reverend Justin Welby will be the 105th Archbishop of Canterbury and will be enthroned in Canterbury Cathedral on 21 March next year.

Speaking to Radio 4's The World at One programme, Justin Welby confirmed that he would vote in favour of women bishops.

He explained to presenter James Robbins his intention to involve himself with certain political matters and emphasised: "It's the archbishop's role to be Christian and that means a profound and passionate care for social justice in our society."

Talking about the banking and the financial services industry, he said that "we have been through a bad patch" and added that there needs to be "serious changes in values and aims" for these industries to be there "for the common good".
