Hilary Mantel's Bring Up the Bodies wins Costa Book of the Year
Hilary Mantel has won the Costa Book of the Year Award for her historical novel Bring Up the Bodies.
It is the latest in a string of accolades for Mantel, who also won the 2012 Man Booker prize.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mantel joked that would not apologise for winning so many prizes, and praised the Costa Awards for "showcasing the whole breadth of contemporary writing."
Other books in the running included a comic-style graphic memoir about James Joyce's daughter by Mary and Bryan Talbot, and the first novel by Francesca Segal, The Innocents.
