Libraries to save websites from 'digital black hole'

The British Library is aiming to archive every UK web page, from Facebook updates to blogs about buses.

It will work alongside other "legal deposit libraries" to save and store a billion web pages, which could be vital for historians.

Richard Gibby from the British Library says a lot of material, such as that published by web users after the London bombings in 2005, has already been lost into "a digital black hole".
