'Bill Bailey inspired Born Slippy' - Karl Hyde
Comedian and musician Bill Bailey was the unwitting inspiration behind Underworld's hit track Born Slippy, the band's frontman has revealed.
Famous for it's "lager lager" refrain, the song became a huge hit after it was used in the soundtrack for Danny Boyle's 1996 film Trainspotting.
Karl Hyde told Radio 4's Front Row that the idea was sparked on a night out when he gave Bailey - who he did not know - £5 to "get a round in".
