Lennon's letters and Beatles lyrics donated to British Library

Letters written by John Lennon are being donated to the British Library on Wednesday, along with the lyrics to a selection of Beatles songs.

The papers are part of a gift from the Beatles' official biographer Hunter Davies.

He told BBC Radio 5 live's Breakfast how he used to hang around Abbey Road recording studio to collect "scraps" of paper that the band "scribbled out the songs on".

He said the papers are now on show in the manuscripts library at the British Library "next to the Magna Carta and Wordsworth".
