Philomena inspires lost families to find each other

The film Philomena is encouraging parents and adoptive children to find each other, according to campaigners.

Susan Lohan, from the Adoption Rights Alliance, who was separated from her mother at birth, claims that the group have received a five fold increase in enquiries following the film's release.

Based on the real life story of Philomena Lee - the film follows Philomena's search to find the son she was forced to put up for adoption, as told by the journalist, Martin Sixsmith, who helped her.

Martin told BBC Radio 5 live's Phil Williams: "A lot of people came forward to say they were in the same position... and had spent a long time looking for their children."
