Jay Leno was 'moved out' because of age, writer claims
TV host Jay Leno has been "moved on" from the Tonight Show to attract a younger audience, an entertainment writer claims.
Steven Gaydos, executive editor of Variety magazine, said the decision was just "nature" taking its course.
Fellow comedian and late-night host Jimmy Fallon, 39, will take over the NBC programme on 17 February.
Gaydos told BBC Radio 5 live's Up All Night: "This is how nature works - its time for the new guy. He's in his early sixties and Jimmy Fallon is 39 - that tells you a lot."
