Dawn French 'utterly shocked' by Rik Mayall's death

Dawn French has said she was 'utterly shocked' by the death of her friend and Comic Strip colleague Rik Mayall.

A post mortem examination will be carried out on Thursday to establish the cause of the comedian's death, who died suddenly on Monday, aged 56.

Speaking to BBC Breakfast, French said she 'owed' Mayall 'a massive debt of gratitude' and she would 'miss him enormously'.
