Why Richard Linklater's Boyhood took 12 years to film

Director Richard Linklater's latest film Boyhood, is a coming-of-age story shot over a 12 year period, with the same group of actors.

Linklater, who is no stranger to inventive storytelling, hoped the unusual approach would bring added authenticity to the film.
