Birdman and The Grand Budapest Hotel lead the Oscar nominations

Birdman and The Grand Budapest Hotel lead the Oscar nominations with nine nominations each.

The shortlist for best pictures includes American Sniper, Birdman, Boyhood, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Selma, Whiplash, The Imitation Game and The Theory of Everything.

The ceremony will take place February 22 and will be presented by Neil Patrick Harris.

Actor Chris Pine and Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs made the announcement for the key categories including best film and best director.
