Children's Laureate: 'I want to encourage children to draw'
Chris Riddell has been named as the 9th Children's Laureate.
One of the UK's best known writers and illustrators, his work includes the Goth Girl series and the Edge Chronicles.
He told the BBC his priority for the next two years was to encourage children to draw, as it helped them to become more creative.
He also described school libraries as "magical places" where librarians were the "custodians of future readers".
