BBC DG Tony Hall: 'People do not want a diminished BBC'

BBC Director-General Tony Hall has responded to the launch of a Green Paper on the corporation's future.

The government says it will ask "hard questions" about the size and ambition of the BBC as part of a consultation on its future.

Mr Hall said that there were "two futures for the BBC" and he believed licence fee payers wanted a "strong BBC, neither smaller or bigger... that informs, that educates and also entertains".
