Suffragette's Meryl Streep 'paid less than male co-stars'

Meryl Streep - one of Hollywood's most successful actors - has spoken out about sexism in the film industry, saying that even she receives less pay than male co-stars.

Asked about her recent comments about being a "humanist" rather than a "feminist", she said that the meaning of feminism was different to what it used to be, and that young women felt it now "alienated" them from people in their lives.

Streep was talking to the BBC ahead of the London premiere of her film, Suffragette, about the militant campaign in support of women's voting rights in the UK.
