The ratings rise and rise of The Great British Bake Off

The Great British Bake Off final became the most-watched TV programme of the year.

Nadiya Hussain, from Leeds, was crowned the winner after baking a "big fat British wedding cake".

GBBO started life on BBC2 with average viewing figures of 2.5 million but is now prime-time on BBC1 and last night's final attracted 13.4 million viewers.
