On the set of War and Peace costume drama

A new adaptation of War and Peace - Leo Tolstoy's famously long novel set in 19th century Russia - hits the screen this weekend.

More than 40 years after Sir Anthony Hopkins starred in its first BBC outing, a cast including Lily James, Jim Broadbent and Gillian Anderson is bringing the story to a new audience.

BBC Breakfast's John Maguire has been to one of the filming locations in Lithuania.

The first episode of War and Peace will be shown on BBC One on Sunday 3 January 2016 and will be available to watch on iPlayer after broadcast.
