Elton John: 'I've never been asked to play Glastonbury'

Over the last 40 years, Sir Elton John has played in almost every venue imaginable - from Leeds University in 1971 to his current Las Vegas residency.

But the star says he's never been invited to the biggest music festival of them all: Glastonbury.

"I haven't been asked, no," he tells Matt Everitt. "I mean, they may have asked - but no-one's ever told me."

The music legend also discusses his earliest inspirations as a piano player, as part of an interview for BBC 6 Music's First Time programme.

You can hear the full interview on Sunday 24 January at 13:00 GMT.
