Ken Loach's, I, Daniel Blake, has won the Cannes Film Festival's top prize, the Palme d'Or

Ken Loach has won the Cannes Film Festival's top prize, the Palme d'Or, for a second time.

His film, I, Daniel Blake, tells the story of a middle-aged joiner who falls on hard times and has to rely on the UK welfare system.

As he picked up his award the director attacked the "dangerous project of austerity".
