Nursing union fears 'ill-advised' cuts

The Royal College of Nursing has warned the NHS faces a period of jobs cuts and rising waiting lists.

The union said it had identified almost 27,000 posts it believes are under threat in the UK and warned that services could suffer in the future.

Peter Carter, general secretary of the RCN, said health workers accepted savings had to be made but were concerned that some trusts were making "a raft of ill-advised cuts".
