Sixty more flu deaths 'steady rise'

The number of people who have died of flu in the UK since October has risen to 112, official figures reveal.

The increase of 62 from the previous week could be due to delayed reporting, with many of the deaths occurring before Christmas the acting chief medical officer Dame Sally Davies said.

Since October, 95 deaths have been linked to swine flu and 12 to the influenza B virus, with the rest unclassified.
