New immunisation drive to tackle 'forgotten killer'

A new drive is underway to give children in the developing world access to a new life saving pneumonia vaccine.

The Gavi Alliance, a global health partnership of public and private sectors which runs the immunisation scheme, says 19 countries will get the jab at first.

Gavi says it needs an extra £500m ($800m) annually for the next five years to meet a shortfall in immunisation for existing and new vaccines.

Save the Children have also released a report on Monday, No Child Born to Die, which aims to highlight this funding shortfall.

The BBC's Fergus Walsh reports from the Langata health centre in Nairobi, where scores of mothers have been bringing their babies for immunisation.
