One GP's view of proposed NHS changes
The government wants to overhaul the way the NHS in England works.
Under the plans, GPs will be given much more responsibility for spending the budget in England, while greater competition with the private sector will be encouraged.
In many areas in England GPs have already begun preparing for the changes ahead.
They are organising themselves into groups, known as consortia, which will take on the job of primary care trusts.
