Study suggests family GPs 'prescribe to the addicted'

A study by the Family Doctor Association suggests the abuse of types of sleeping pills, antidepressants, and painkillers is increasing in the UK.

The BBC has learnt that many family doctors routinely prescribe these medications, even though they suspect their patients may have an addiction to the drugs.

The recent findings also reveal that many GPs are aware of the issue, but find it difficult to help.
