MPs say patients put at risk due to lack of inspections

A group of MPs has claimed patients have been put at risk by an unacceptable fall in the number of inspections of hospitals and care homes in England.

The Health Select Committee says the Care Quality Commission allowed inspections to fall by 70% while it gave priority to a new licensing system.
