The Rape Crisis Centre sees huge increase in calls

The charity Rape Crisis has recorded an eightfold increase in calls in the last week.

They say a Coronation Street episode that depicted the violent rape of a character by her ex-boyfriend is the cause.

Carla Connor, played by actress Alison King, was sexually assaulted by her former partner after she called off their wedding.

Fiona Elvines from the Rape Crisis Centre, external in South London told Radio 5 live's Shelagh Fogarty why dramas can help people get support with dealing with difficult situations.
