Carers 'made me feel like piece of meat'

Basic care for the elderly in their own homes in England is so bad it breaches human rights at times, an inquiry by the Equality and Human Rights Commission says.

Rita Anderson, who has multiple sclerosis, said some of the care she had received at home made her feel insecure.

She said some carers treated her like a "piece of meat" and sometimes staff would turn up two hours late to help her get dressed.

Her carers now come from a single private care agency, which she said was a huge improvement.
