Founder of Facebook page for organ donors explains how lives can be saved

Philip Barton's six-year-old son had a liver and kidney transplant when he was two and a half, following the diagnosis of liver disease.

It prompted Mr Barton to set up a Facebook page several years ago, to raise awareness of the need for more organ donations.

Now, Facebook has announced that all of its users will be able to add "organ donor" as a life event to their Facebook Timeline. This will enable them to state their intention to become an organ donor if they are not already.
