Sainsbury's boss: We're keeping tight control

There has been another rise in profits at the supermarket chain, Sainsbury's.

Results to the year ending in March show underlying profits were up 6.2% to £756m.

Sainsbury's chief executive Justin King told the Today programme's business presenter Simon Jack that there were a number of reasons behind the retailer's success: With "about half of our sales growth coming from online and convenience... we are able to convert into profit growth if we keep tight control on our costs."

"There's been lots of questions raised about the provenance of food supply chains and that's something we have great strength in and clearly we have benefited from that," he added.

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Wednesday 8 May 2013.
