Carer's 'cracked ribs and torn muscles'

Elsie Sykes, 78, was at the end of her tether trying to look after her husband Neville.

But after authorities in Leeds adopted a new co-ordinated approach to providing care she said the situation improved dramatically.

She was helped by a pilot scheme in the city which saw health and social services coming together with a single point of contact to establish what help she needed.
