More than half of UK children need more exercise

Half of all UK seven-year-olds do not do enough exercise, with girls less likely to get the recommended hour a day than boys, a study suggests.

University College London researchers found that just over a third of girls got enough exercise, compared to 63% of boys.

There was also a difference in activity levels between different groups, with children of Indian origin and those living in Northern Ireland among the least physically active.

Fergus Walsh reports.
