A&E staff shortage 'nearly 10%'

England's accident and emergency departments are understaffed on average by nearly 10%, according to a BBC survey.

It found more than 1,200 vacancies for doctors and nurses.

NHS leaders are also warning that emergency departments could reach breaking point this winter unless pressures on the service are addressed.
