GPs: Hunt wants to rediscover family doctors

The government wants more GP surgeries in England to adopt longer hours.

It has announced nine pilot projects, which will allow groups of family doctors to bid for money from a £50 million fund, in return for opening 12 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Health Secretary said he wanted to rediscover the ideal of a family doctor.
