Labour: A&E shake-up 'not what Hunt promised'
Proposals by NHS England to create a two-tier A&E system are "not what the government promised", the shadow health secretary has said.
Andy Burnham accused the health secretary of being "complacent" and said he needed to "act now" in order to prevent a winter crisis.
The NHS review suggested creating between 40 and 70 "major emergency centres" to decongest A&E - but it could take up to five years before the overhaul is completed.
Mr Burnham said: "Jeremy Hunt said he would have this report in the autumn so he could use it to make changes ahead of the winter and that isn't what has been delivered."
